While the U.S. Women’s National Team is recovering from their fourth place finish at the 2017 SheBelieves Cup, the future of the women’s team will be gathering for training camps at the end of this month. To keep you up to date with the best in local talent, we’ll be dropping these U.S. Youth Soccer Updates to keep you informed.
U-19 Women’s National Team
The U-19 team will be holding its second training camp of 2017 as 26 players have been called in for a week long camp. Eight natives have been called in and they include: Goalkeepers Hillary Beall (SoCal Blues; Laguna Beach, Calif.), Zoe Clevely (Pateadores Academy; Huntington Beach, Calif.), defenders Kiara Pickett (Eagles SC; Santa Barbara, Calif.), Sophia Serafin (West Coast FC; Glendora, Calif.), Emily Smith (De Anza Force; Los Gatos, Calif.), midfielders Delanie Sheehan (West Coast SC; Discovery Bay, Calif.), and forwards Sydney Carr (Arsenal FC; Orange, Calif.) and Penelope Hocking (SoCal Blues; Anaheim, Calif.).
This roster represents a totally new group of players compared to the first camp in January of this year.
U-23 Women’s National Team
The U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team will be holding back-to-back camps that will be on opposite coasts over the next two weeks.
Six California players have been called in, and only one Tegan McGrady (Stanford; San Jose, Calif.) will be at both camps. The first camp is the Thorns Spring Invitational (Portland) that will run from March 26 to April 1. Called into this camp is midfielder Tierna Davidson (Stanford; Menlo Park, Calif.) and forward Ashley Sanchez (SoCal Blues; Monrovia, Calif.).
The second camp will run from April 2-8 in Orlando. Called into that camps is goalkeeper Arielle Schechtman (Georgetown; Del Mar, Calif.), midfielder Sarina Bolden (Loyola Marymount; Milpitas, Calif.), and forward Hannah Diaz (Saint Mary’s; Hidden Valley Lake, Calif.).
In the first camp, the team will face Houston Dash on Sunday, March 26, Portland Thorns on Wednesday, March 29, and then Chicago Red Stars on Saturday, April 1. In Florida, the squad will face Central Florida on April 5 and then Orlando Pride on April 7.
