LOS ANGELES – The U.S. Soccer Development Academy Semifinals (USSDA) kicks off tonight at U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center in Carson, with the San Jose Earthquakes U-17/18 academy team as the only remaining California team.

The Earthquakes face USSDA favorites Real Salt Lake – Arizona U-17/18 on field #1 at 7:00 p.m. tonight. The match, along with the other three semifinal matches (U-15/16 & U-17/18), will be streamed live on ussoccer.com.

Closing out the regular season with the top spot in the Northwest Divison, the Earthquakes went into the Academy Playoffs as the sixth overall seed. The Earthquakes played the Charlotte Soccer Academy to a 2-2 in the opening group match before defeating the Indiana Fire Academy, 5-0, and Texas Rush, 1-0.

The Earthquakes then defeated last year’s U-17/18 USSDA champions, the Players Development Academy, 3-0, in the quarterfinals with goals from Amir Bashti (Stanford), Yousef Diyab (CSU East Bay), and Rory Birse.

Thursday’s match marks the second meeting between the Earthquakes and RSL-AZ. On January 30, RSL-AZ defeated the Earthquakes 3-0.
