SAN DIEGO – The U-16 Girls’ National Team is going to be at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, San Diego, California from August 1st until August 9th for a training camp featuring 24 players.

It will be the third training camp for the U-16 Girls this year. The girls in this age group are born in 2000 (21 players) and 2001 (3 players). The camp will be run by Women’s Development Coach Tricia Taliaferro, who is the U.S. main scout for the 2000 birth year girls. All of the girls in this squad are eligible to play in the next FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup which takes place in 2016, even though the main birth year for this tournament is 1999.

This group of players are on a 2 year cycle, being developed and prepared for the U-18 and later the U-20 teams, with the main objective of playing the U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2020.

Out of the 24 players, 5 of them are from California: goalkeeper Katie Meyer from Newbury Park, defenders Skylar Smith from Coto de Caza and Kenny Wesley from Rossmoor, midfielder Sierra Enge from Cardiff, and forward Brooke Wilson from Vista.
