Who scored it better?
Picture this: It’s the 90th minute of a Friday night game between New York City FC and the Philadelphia Union in Pennsylvania. NYCFC are winning 1-0, and they look firmly in control to win it, and then David Villa DOES THIS to seal it up:

I literally howled in delight when I saw this happen live. This is the kind of goal where everything comes into play just right to make it happen. The kind of goal that just doesn’t come along often at all.
Except…Ottawa Fury’s Steevan Dos Santos scored a goal from the halfway line himself the very next night, and it was the actual game-winner.

So, who scored it better?
A-Rod has dream, nightmare comeback
Amy Rodriguez returned from her second maternity leave on Sunday in FC Kansas City’s NWSL opener against the Boston Breakers. The Southern California native provided an immediate boost to FCKC after sitting out the entire 2016 season, scoring early in the second half to seal a 2-0 victory on the day.

But it wasn’t a spotless comeback for A-Rod. Shortly after scoring her goal, Rodriguez injured her knee and was forced out of the game. There’s no official diagnosis yet, but many were fearing the worst. Here’s hoping Rodriguez won’t be sidelined for too long, especially after such a long layoff in her career.
Anything you can do, I can do better
Speaking of that FC Kansas City win, the game’s other scorer was also returning from maternity leave. Sydney Leroux notched the game-winner in the first half, and her celebration showed considerable pent-up excitement after missing all of last season.

But that’s not all. Leroux wasn’t the only member of her household to score this weekend, as husband Dom Dwyer scored the winner for Sporting Kansas City against the Portland Timbers on Saturday. We’re not sure if they’re going to be more happy for their spouses or if the strikers’ competitive juices are really flowing now that they’re both off the mark this season.
