San Diego – The weekend of July 25th and 26th was a success! At the 2015 soccerloco Surf Cup, the best of the best youth soccer teams played in high level competition and beautiful weather; teams from all over the country made their way to San Diego for this tournament. One of the highest levels of soccer played this weekend was in the men’s u18 Supercup division. This division hosted teams from Nevada, Washington, Colorado, Utah, and Texas. The Super Cup had 32 teams broken into 8 groups of 4 teams each. The top two teams of each bracket move on. This year the teams who moved on were: Monarcas Academy Aztecs (CA-N), RSF Attack (CA-S), Sacramento United Reds 97 (CA-N) Earthquakes East Valley 97B (CA-N), Santa Clara Sporting 97B green (CA-N), Almaden FC Mercury 97B Green (CA-N), Marin FC 98 blue (CA-N),  Fullerton Rangers B97 white (CA-S).

The teams to advance to the Semi-Finals are Fullerton Rangers, Monarcas Aztecs, Almaden, and Sacramento United reds.
imageIn the end, the Monarcas Aztecs found themselves up against CA giants Fullerton Rangers. The game was accompanied by every parent cheering their teams on while the top college scouts sat on the sidelines analyzing the talent and determining whether they are a good fit for their squad. The Fullerton Rangers fought hard against the Monarcas but in the end the Monarcas were too disciplined and efficient with their chances. The Monarcas didn’t have many shots but they were capitalizing on the ones they did have. The Monarcas made their trip from Nor Cal worth it, taking home the hardware with a 3-0 win.

Congratulations to the Monarca Aztecs for claiming their title as “The Best of the Best.”
