SD Loyal has announced details for the club’s open tryouts. SIGN UP HERE
Aspiring professional soccer players have their chance to try out for a professional team. SD Loyal will be holding open tryouts on Sunday December 15th on the campus of USD in San Diego. Landon Donovan, Carrie Taylor, and SD Loyal technical staff will be on hand to evaluate potential players.
Important Details:
- Potential players must be between 18 and 33 years old.
- Registration must be completed online (no on-site registration).
- Players who register online will receive further instructions that must be completed within 48 hours to confirm their spots at tryouts.
- Tryouts will be from 9am – 1pm
- The cost is $95
Will applicants be pre-screened?
I asked Ashley Cramer, Vice President of Marketing & Communications, more about the tryouts. Specifically, is the club screening applicants before granting a spot at the tryouts? Or are all welcome, first-come first-served?
Cramer answered, “Registration is on a first-come, first-served and capped at 120 registrants. After 120, there will be a waitlist. If there’s enough demand, a second tryout might be added at a later date.“
Why $95?
I asked Cramer the reason for the $95 cost. She told me, “It’s standard that there is a registration fee for open tryouts, and our fee is lower than other smaller markets. For comparison, Louisville announced their open tryouts today with a registration fee of $125. They raise theirs to $150 after Nov. 30).” Click here to see Louisville’s tryout announcement.
