SD Loyal players and staff continue to test negative for COVID-19

A few weeks ago, SD Loyal announced all players had test negative for COVID-19. Since then, other USL Championship clubs have had positive COVID-19 test results. Games have been postponed out of an abundance of caution. SD Loyal had a their match agains LA Galaxy II postponed.

Little has been announced regarding SD Loyal’s testing and isolation procedures. SoccerNation reached out to SD Loyal to find out how the team continues to ensure players and staff steer clear of the COVID-19 virus.

How often are players and staff tested?

SN: How often are players and staff tested?
Loyal: Players are tested twice a week

SN: Is Rady Children’s a big part of the testing protocols?
Loyal: As an official medical provider/partner of the club, yes.

What mitigation steps is the club taking to try to ensure player safety and keeping COVID-19 away from the club?

Loyal: Coach Landon is really encouraging the guys to stay home as much as possible. When they do go out, follow guidelines (mask, wash hands, social distancing, etc).
