The Escondido YMCA and Soltilo FC have partnered to host a free futsal training clinic on Sunday, December 4th in the build up to the launch of a regular futsal league run by the YMCA in 2017. The YMCA has long been known for supporting health and physical fitness in people of all ages, and this futsal initiative is just the latest in a long line of positive steps taken by this organization to provide a safe, educational platform for youngsters to learn high level soccer skills.
The clinic is broken down into the following age appropriate time slots:
- Ages 6-7: 8:00am
- Ages 8-9: 9:00am
- Ages 10-11: 10:00am
- Ages 12-13: 11:00am
Soltilo FC Director of Coaching and former professional soccer player Brian Waltip will be leading the clinic along with staff from the YMCA.
“We would like to get kids out to teach them about Futsal and create some interest in the community,” stated Waltrip. “Our focus as an organization is one building sound technical skills in young players and there is no better avenue to do so than with the game of futsal.”
Soltilo FC is the competitive arm of the Honda Estilo Company, founded by Japanese international Keisuke Honda, who currently wears the #10 shirt for legendary Italian team A.C. Milan. The Honda Estilo Company was founded with the express intent of providing opportunities to aspiring young soccer players all around the world to play at the highest level they are capable of. Oftentimes, talented players never fulfill their true potential and the Honda Estilo Company strives to ensure that as many players with the desire to compete have the chance to train under the expert tutelage of the coaching staff assembled. The Honda Estilo commitment to building bridges from youth soccer to the professional ranks resulted in the company purchasing SV Horn, an Austrian second division side eligible for promotion to the top division and thus the UEFA Champions League.
In 2009, the first Soltilo global soccer camps were opened and by 2012, the first Soltilo soccer school was established in Japan. In the years since, Soltilo FC soccer school has grown to over 65 locations world wide with more than 4,000 students. Three of Soltilo’s most elite youth soccer coaches are travelling to San Diego from Japan specifically for this futsal clinic as Soltilo FC looks to plant their first American program somewhere in America’s Finest City.
This clinic is ideal for players who are interested in refining their skills. Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar and thousands of other professional soccer players attribute their close control of the ball to playing futsal as children, often against players much older than themselves.
The YMCA facility is located at 1050 North Broadway • Escondido, CA 92026. Players interested in attending can register in advance at the front desk of the YMCA or by phone at 760-745-7490. Contact Keriann Nomura with any additional questions at [email protected].
