The three Galaxy superstars will finally play together on Thursday against Central FC in CONCACAF Champions League play @7pm at the Stub Hub Center. This means it will be the debut match for Giovani Dos Santos.
Having already spoken to the press, Giovani said “It’s going to be great to play here with the Mexican fans here in Los Angeles and I hope I can represent my Mexican fans and my Mexican people very well.” When asked about his impact in the club and the community, he also stated that he knows this team is a team with a potential to win titles.
Dos Santos was given the responsibility of wearing the number 10 jersey. Typically, the number 10 is the player considered the most dangerous on the pitch. The number 10 is not only a striker, a finisher, and a distributor, but whoever wears that number is expected to be the game changer. At any moment the #10 should take a non scoring opportunity and turn it into a chane for a goal. Dos Santos is ready for that task as he has proven to fit #10 in various situations with his prior teams, including scoring 12 goals in 34 appearances with Villareal. Steven Gerrard is the distributor who will hang back and collect passes and re-direct them, Robbie Keane is the striker who always knows how to get into scoring position, and Giovani Dos Santos will be the attacking center mid who hangs out in front of Gerrard but behind Keane in order to create chances as well as distribute the ball. As an added bonus you have Zardes who is young but, always knows what to do when the balls at his feet. This combination is going to be a deadly one and it will be interesting to see how Central FC will handle the trio.
