NC Battalion proudly welcomes the Del Mar Carmel Valley Sharks as the most recent club to join its youth partnership program. Several members of the NC Battalion organization have close ties to the Sharks program making the partnership that much more meaningful. Warren Barton, Giovanni Vlahos, Duarte Andrade, and Sergio Ortiz among others currently hold coaching positions with the DMCV Sharks, while goalkeeper, Bryant Vera, is a product of the program.
A very well respected program in North County, the DMCV Sharks are not only a source of legitimacy but, also a galvanizing force in NC Battalion’s grassroots efforts to build a community around the sport of soccer. With the support of five prominent youth soccer organizations including the DMCV Sharks, NC Battalion is motivated more than ever to help raise scholarship money through its partnerships as a way of making the sport more accessible to underprivileged youth. In doing so, NC Battalion and its youth partners hope to shape the San Diego soccer culture into one that is more committed to giving back.
Both organizations are eager for the opportunity to work together for the upcoming season. Team owner, Jason Barbato, is thrilled to have a youth club of such caliber onboard that is representative of what NC Battalion is attempting to achieve in the community. Sharks’ Director of Club Operations Shannon MacMillan shared, “The DMCV Sharks are excited about having the Battalion in North County to partner with. It is a great opportunity for our young players to see games up close while also supporting the team.”
NC Battalion begins their inaugural season on April 2 against Southern California Sports Club in San Bernardino. For a full schedule and season ticket information, please visit www.ncbattalion.com.
