Rush will be taking on Indios Denver FC at home this time around and will look to right the ship and get their season back on track.
Rush have been on a slide in their last three matches losing in the U.S. Open Cup and their last two games United Premier Soccer League(UPSL). Rush has also dropped out of the top spot in the Colorado conference which is now held by Colorado Springs FC while Rush sits in second one point behind.
In the last match Rush faced a very quality side in FC Tucson and were in the game right up until the last couple of minutes when they conceded a last minute goal and fell to Tucson in the Open Cup match. Even with the result being a loss, I believe that Rush can and will need to carry some of the momentum from this last match to get themselves back in winning form in the UPSL.
This week Rush will be taking on Indios Denver in a rematch that Rush dominated in the first bout. The previous meeting between these two clubs ended with the final score line being 7-2 with a heavily sided Rush victory. Indios has a young but quality team and short term memory and will surely not let the previous loss to Rush affect their preparations for this go ’round.
Rush have played well in their last few games despite the losses and are the more experienced side in this match up against Indios. The problems for them have come in the final third where they haven’t been able to find the back of the net and their red hot offense that carried them thought the first half of the season has now turned ice cold.
Experienced Rush veterans like Colin Clark and Nic Harman will be looked to in order to get the season turned back around. Youngster Ryan Crowley is coming off of a wonderful performance in Tucson and if he stays in form could be the spark plug that Rush needs to get the offense firing on all cylinders again.
Rush also has some other younger players that they will be looking to for a boost in the back half of their season. Defender Ryan Wilson started this season as a sub but has found himself as a permanent fixture in the Rush back line. The U18 Rush forward phenom Griffin Dorsey has also been a game changer in previous games and could certainly play a massive role in the second half of this season.
The one area for Rush that has been consistent for the entire season has been their goalkeeping. Shailer Thomas has been their rock for the entire UPSL season and has come up huge when they needed it the most.
Rush looks to be trending the right direction and should be able to find a W this weekend. The play has been there they just need to make sure that the ball finds the back of the net this time around.
Kickoff for this match is at 4:00 pm on May 21st at Shea Stadium. Come out and and support Rush as they try to get back to the top of the division with a win.
