ASC San Diego returns to Mission Bay High School in beautiful Pacific Beach for a match against rivals Orange County Football Club on Saturday May 19th at 6:00 pm.
The two teams are locked in combat for the top spot in the National Premier Soccer League(NPSL) Southwest Division. ASC currently sits in first by virtue of their higher points per game ratio that the NPSL uses to rank its teams.
“After a great win at FC Arizona on Saturday, the team is flying and looking forward to our showdown with Orange County this weekend,” said ASC head coach Ziggy Korytoski. “The boys have already played and succeeded in a number of high-profile games, and this team is not showing any inclination of backing down from the next challenge. Despite this, we know we have a long way to go, and a good first half of the season is exactly that. That said, we know we’ve done what we’ve had to: put together a strong start, win on the road, build team chemistry, and make necessary roster adjustments, adding power and depth. With that accomplished, we’re now in control of our destiny; looking forward to growing week in and week out recognizing that “consistency” in execution will win the league.”
The last time these two titanic teams clashed it was OCFC who emerged with all three points as they dealt ASC its only loss of the season thus far. There is little love lost between these two clubs, and the victor on Saturday is sure to be the favorite to finish in first as the season rounds into the home stretch.
