On Saturday March 24, ASC San Diego kicks off its third consecutive National Premier Soccer League season at Mission Bay High School against FC Arizona. This grudge match between the first and second place teams of the 2017 campaign is set to be one of the most exciting match ups in the 2018 Southwest Conference.

ASC is known for its commitment to excellence, on and off the field. Founded in Point Loma in 1981 as a youth soccer club, ASC is one of San Diego’s oldest with deep roots in the local community.

ASC has grown into a club of over 150 teams, with affiliates around the US. It is also one of the only clubs in America to successfully build a “full pyramid” organization – a professional soccer team that sits atop the organization, a development academy and juniors program in the middle and community programs that form the base.

Over the past three years I have had the honor and privilege to be at the helm of what began as the Albion PROS and is now ASC San Diego – never have we had a more talented team, player for player.

The team you will see on Saturday Night vs. the 2018 Western Conference Champion FC Arizona, is quick, technical, intelligent, and hardworking. It will establish our team identity, and be PASSIONATE!  I believe this was a missing ingredient from last season… and while our results were good, they were not up to the standard we set for ourselves nor the standards of our community.  This year’s team is definitely different, and I couldn’t be more excited.” – Head Coach Ziggy Korytoski

This year ASC looks to win a National Championship and will do so on the back of significant contributions from each of its players. The entire team is bought into the philosophy of playing to be San Diego’s team. That means performing on the field and also being a positive force in the community around.

Few players exemplify the morals and values of ASC more than striker Amani Walker. Born and raised in San Diego, Walker has played at the highest levels of the American game. To help share the spirit of what it means to be an ASC San Diego player, I sat down with Walker to get a better sense for what goes on in his mind before, during and after the 90 minutes on the field.
