Yesterday SoccerNation described San Diego County’s plan to return young athletes to the practice fields.

Plan passes through the SD Board of Supervisors on 4-1 vote. Now, San Diego awaits Governor Newsom’s response.

The “Game On San Diego” plan was thoughtfully crafted with safety and multiple sports in mind. Supervisor Kristin Gaspar collected input from over 200 local youth sports leaders. She used the feedback to formulate San Diego County’s detailed safety plan to return kids to practice fields and facilities.

Earlier today, May 19th, the initiative earned approval from San Diego’s Public Health Officer, Dr. Wilma Wooten. Next, the plan went to pass with a 4-1 vote from the Board of Supervisors. San Diego County submitted the plan to Governor Gavin Newsom today. The county now must wait for Governor Newsom’s response.

Supervisor Gaspar is cautiously optimistic for a positive response within the next few days.
