It only took 16 minutes of inspiration to lift a country to its collective feet in celebration. Those sublime 16 minutes by US Women’s National Team Captain Carli Lloyd cemented her place in soccer history. She scored the first ever hat-trick in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final, including an audacious chip from near the halfway line, and went on to be the Tournament MVP. She was utterly impressive and clutch for the American squad full of other household names. However, this was Carli Lloyd’s moment, a culmination of years of hard work, relentless commitment and success. She left a legacy that Nike commemorates with her limited edition cleats.
The pearl-colored boots feature Lloyd’s number, 10, as well as “Leave Your Legacy” on the heel. Each of the three stars represents a goal scored by Lloyd in the World Cup final and the number of FIFA World Cup wins by the United States Women’s National Team.
It’s the first specifically boot designed by Nike for a female soccer player. It’s a true testament to Lloyd’s dedication to the sport, to the fans and to succeeding at the highest level.
