Just a couple of days after that comeback against the Netherlands, the USMNT strikes again this time beating World Champions and number 1 –ranked team in the world, Germany. This is actually the first time in history the U.S. team has beaten Germany in Germany.
Mario Gotze, the German who scored the winning goal in the World Cup final, also scored the only one goal for Germany against the U.S in the 12th minute of the game.
Michael Bradley, the U.S. midfielder sent a cross to the feet of Mix Diskerud who in a karate kid type of kick sent it to the back of the net, tying up the scores.
Bobby Wood scored the winning goal with almost 87 minutes in the clock, when U.S. was showing superior fitness compared with the Germans, who appeared to slow down a bit later in the game.

However, what is making a lot of fans mad is the fact that even having scored in the two precious matches against Netherlands and Germany, Wood is not going to the Gold Cup. Coach Klinsmann assures there is a good reason for that though, as we mentioned in a previous article.
Now this leaves us with another question as far as attacking options. Since Dempsey and Altidore did not participate towards the results in these two incredible matches, and the U.S. forwards were able to perform well at such a high level, what are the chances they will still come back to their spots after this?
Joachim Lowes did rest a couple of his star players to be ready for the Euro 2016 that is starting for them on Saturday against Gibraltar. So, it is true to say that Germany was not playing at full strength with its best players, as goalkeeper Neuer as well as midfielder Toni Kroos and forward Thomas Muller were out. But the U.S. was not with its complete squad either, as some key players like Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore, Alejandro Bedoya, Omar Gonzales and Jermaine Jones along with others did not play.
The U.S. might not be one the top soccer nations in the world just yet, but they are definitely showing a noticeable progress.
