Did you know that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime? This is a call for action. Monday morning, I went down to NBC in downtown San Diego to help out with a 2 minute segment about one of our amazing benefactors: the Kickin’ It Challenge Soccer tournament partnered with the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
There I met Pam Bickel, the Founding Director and President of the Kickin’ It Challenge tourney, a very passionate and fun-loving woman. She arrived wearing her signature pink soccer jersey and fabulous pink leather cowboy boots. Of course, everything had to be decorated in pink! As we waited, we chatted about her trip to Hawaii and all about the upcoming tournament and Gala Bash.

The Kickin’ It Challenge Tournament raises money for breast cancer research and is donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the largest provider for breast cancer research in the world. The tournament alone has raised over $100,000 in the past four years since its genesis. During this tournament, kids from all over San Diego unite in the fight against breast cancer wearing pink socks, ribbons, and jerseys to raise awareness and give back to their community. The tournament will be held in Ryan Park in Escondido on June 20th and 21st.
This year, there will also be a Kick-off Gala dinner and auction event. The theme this year is Country Cocktail, and the event will be held at the Old Poway Park, such a perfect setting! The event will be on June 26th, be sure to get tickets and make it out for this awesome occasion. Some auction items include a diamond necklace and an autographed US Women’s National Team Hope Solo jersey!
