SAN DIEGO – On July 28th, Javier Perez, U.S U-18 head coach named the 20-player roster to participate in the 2015 Open Nordic Cup in Sweden from July 30th to August 10th.
The first game for the U.S. will be on Tuesday, August 4th, against Faroe Island in Malbaken. One day later they will travel to Karlstad to play against Iceland on August 5th and will later face Sweden on August 7th to wrap up the group stage. The final game will be on August 9th and will be determined according to the results from the group matches.
This tournament will represent a new cycle for this age group. All of the players selected in this roster will be having their first camp as the new U-18 Men’s National Team. All of the 20 players have played previously with the U-15 and U-16 National Team.
There are players from 11 different states but California is the state with most representatives in this roster, with 5 total. Both goalkeepers, Eric Lopez that plays at LA Galaxy and Brady Scott that plays for De Anza Force are Californians, as well as defenders Callum Strech from Aston Villa F.C. and Carson Vom Steeg from Real So Cal, midfielder Jonathan Gonzales from C.F. Monterrey and forward Winson Harris also from Real So Cal.
