Tiempo boots have grown a reputation for the quilted leather toe box, designed to promote the softest of touches. For Tiempo Legend VI, Nike sought to provide that same soft-touch effect of quilting, but without perforating the leather. The new boot features an internal, cushioned cage that holds its shape and grooves the leather with minimal stitching, which will help prolong the life of the leather.
“With this new construction, Tiempo Legend VI delivers the feel of quilting, but without compromising the leather,” continues de Montgolfier. “The foam backer has been vacuum pressed to the leather to ensure a soft, seamless construction. By eliminating quilting, we reduce the possibility of mud or water seeping in through the quilt lines, as that can harden the leather.”
