The 2016 edition in Denver was by all accounts a rousing success. Over 80 coaches from the Rush family joined 850 players from 54 teams for a week of exhilarating fun and education.
“This was the best week of my life – I wish it would never end!” – Carly Sabat, Rush Pikes Peak
The 8th annual edition of Rush Fest was the most successful yet. The event is for Rush players formally known as U12s. Some players came with full teams, some came in groups, and some players came alone to join the gathering.
The schedule included parents, coaches, referees and players all taking part in education sessions in the classroom and on the field. 1,200 people were in attendance for the opening ceremony which including a sing-a-long, Adidas giveaways, schedule distribution and an inspirational video of Rush Alumni current professional players encouraging the next generation of Rush superstars.
There was street soccer, coaching combinations, and even a Make Your Own Ball event geared towards emphasizing how less fortunate children around the world find a way to play the beautiful game. The Rush Thunder program for players with special needs showcased a session to a crowd of over 300 people one evening, and parents were given a healthy dose of reality with an education session from John O’Sullivan from Changing the Game Project.
All in all, the best part of the event was the passion and enjoyment for the game that the kids showed. If you are a rush player born in 2005, set your sights on next year’s event!
